Action on Asbestos
Action on Asbestos (AOA) is a registered charity which was established in 1984, by men who had been diagnosed with an asbestos condition, to provide practical advice and support to those with a similar condition and their families.
The Charity provides a comprehensive benefit advice service to maximise a clients income. The Charity will also assist with the completion of all application forms. The benefits advice service will also include representation at first tier and upper tribunals. A home visit is offered to those with a life limiting condition, or to those with underlying health conditions. AOA will host group meeting throughout Scotland and have invited guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds.
AOA have always actively campaigned on the injustices placed on those with an asbestos condition and were recognised as "campaigners of the year" by the Scottish Parliament; this award was given in respect of the substantial pieces of legislation enacted in favour of those with an asbestos condition.
AOA is proud to partner with NHS Scotland, Scottish Mesothelioma Network, Meso UK, Police Scotland, The Procurator Fiscals office and all statutory and voluntary organisations who work on behalf of those in need in Scotland.
