Presentation Material

We require receipt of your final presentation no later than Monday 9th June 2025 to info@lcnuk.org.

  • All presentations will be treated in strict confidence and not utilised by anyone other than yourself and the production crew on the days of the conference.
  • All presentations will be loaded on the LCNUK website as PDF files to allow delegates only to view presentations after the conference.
  • If you do not wish to allow your presentation to be available to delegates post conference, please contact us at heatheroliver@redhotirons.com by Monday 9th June 2025

Technical Requirements

If you require access to the internet for your presentation and/or require sound please make sure you notify us before the conference so that we can ensure the appropriate equipment is provided.

We recommend the use of Microsoft PowerPoint® as the presentation medium of choice. If you plan to use any other presentation medium such as 35mm slides or video you will need to contact Heather Oliver as soon as possible on 01675 477607 or by email info@lcnuk.org.

The conference will be using a widescreen format for the presentation of slides. Please ensure you use the Widescreen (16:9) format or you can download our conference Microsoft PowerPoint® template. Please ensure you use a sans serif font when preparing your slides (e.g. Calibri or Arial).

To ensure that we have sufficient back-up procedures in the event of computer failure please submit your presentation by email to info@lcnuk.org (or submit via  www.wetransfer.com if bigger than 7MB to heatheroliver@redhotirons.com) by Monday 9th June 2025. Please also bring a memory stick copy with you to the meeting as well. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to use your own laptop so for these reasons we must receive a copy of the presentation.

If you would like additional information to be available via the conference website to support your presentation (e.g. URL links to a research paper, PDF documents and other resources) please let us know via heatheroliver@redhotirons.com.

Speakers are responsible for ensuring relevant permission is obtained if using images/graphics not created themselves.

Please find listed below some guidelines which will help to ensure that your presentation runs smoothly and is of the best quality to the audience.

Tips for using PowerPoint®

  • We have a preferred Slide Template
  • Use a Sans Serif font such as Arial or Calibri in all text
  • Try to limit each slide to a maximum of 7 lines of text with 7 words per line
  • Use a font size of at least 24points
  • Never use more than two fonts on a slide
  • Never use all Capital letters in a slide, it makes reading text more difficult and can be perceived as "SHOUTING" a message.
  • Keep animations to a minimum using the facility only to emphasise a point
  • The use of sound animation is discouraged

Audience Polls and Engagement via Sli.do

Speakers also have the option to include audience interactions via Sli.do where appropriate and we encourage the use of polls to support audience engagement. Polling questions can be multiple choice questions and/or simple Yes/No questions. If you wish to use Slid.do within your presentation, please submit your requirements before Monday 9th June 2025 to heatheroliver@redhotirons.com.

Inserting Video

Care must be taken to be certain that video clips will play correctly in your presentation. Standard video formats include MPEG, AVI and QuickTime (Apple). Some QuickTime movies will not run correctly in PowerPoint®.

Within each format, there may be different types of compression used. These include MPEG, Indeo (Intel), Cinepak etc. Each format or codec has certain features which affect the final output. You may need to try different settings when you create your clips to get the best quality. There is a trade-off between high-quality videos and large files. Use short video segments only. Try to create non-compressed AVI files, if possible.

Image files are embedded directly into the file by PowerPoint® when you save them, while video files are not embedded. Only a link is made to the video file. To eliminate the problem of PowerPoint® losing the link to the file make sure that you copy the video clips you want to insert in to the same folder as the PowerPoint® file and email to us along with your presentation before the meeting.  Be certain to bring the video clips and the PowerPoint® files to the meeting.

Delegate Information

The conference will be supported by mobile friendly pages on the LCNUK website to provide speakers and delegates. You will have access to real-time event information, opportunities to request meet-ups with colleagues and peers, view conference materials and posters, and ability to stay informed with the latest event happenings via live SMS updates. Importantly, this helps us to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing printed materials.

Only conference attendees will have access to these pages via their LCNUK website login.
